Lady Trojans Fly Past Falcons, 92-75

ANDERSON, S.C. -- LaShonda Chiles scored 23 points and Deidra Langston added 21 points to lead No. 5 Anderson College to a 92-75 victory over Pfeiffer in a CVAC game Thursday night at the Abney Center. Anderson, 25-2 overall and 16-1 in the CVAC, won for the 15th straight time. The loss drops Pfeiffer to 6-17, 6-11. There were three lead changes and one tie in the first seven minutes of the game. An 8-0 run by Anderson snapped a tie at 14 to give the Lady Trojans a 22-14 lead with 11:17 left in the half. The Falcons got no closer than six points the remainder of the half. Anderson led 44-34 at the half. The Lady Trojans opened the second half with a 28-14 run for a 72-48 lead with 9:55 remaining. Langston scored eight points and Chiles scored seven during the run. The Falcons could get no closer than 14 points in the final nine minutes. Stephanie Ponds added 18 points and seven rebounds and Deanna Thompson chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds. Chiles, a 5-foot-2 sophomore from Greenwood, S.C., has scored in double figures in every game this season, and she has scored 20 or more points in 18 games. She has scored 20 or more points in nine of Anderson's last 10 games. Chiles broke her own school single-season record for points scored Thursday night. She has now scored 591 points this season to increase her career total to 1,169. Pfeiffer was led by Angela Hagan with 20 points and nine rebounds and Sarah Reese with 13 points. Anderson shot 50 percent from the field while limiting Pfeiffer to 39 percent. Pfeiffer won the boards, 47-40, and the Falcons had 21 rebounds off the offensive glass. Chiles had eight of Anderson's 20 assists. The Lady Trojans used 29 Falcon turnovers to scored 29 points. Anderson has scored 90 or more points 15 times this season. In the last 43 games they have scored 80 or more points, the Lady Trojans are 43-0.
