ANDERSON, S.C. -- Combining its lethal offensive attack and a strong defense, the 11th ranked Anderson mens soccer team ran it home unbeaten streak to 15 matches by shutting out Barton, 6-0, Saturday night at the Civic Center. Due to the wet conditions, the contest was moved to the Civic Center field, but the change of location did nothing to slow the Trojans, as the nation's fourth-ranked offense reached the six-goal mark for the third time this season. Anderson improved to 5-0 and 1-0 in the Conference Carolinas, as junior Zach Denson got the Trojans on the scoreboard with his first goal of the season in the 24th minute, and AU put the contest out of reach with a pair of goals coming less than four minutes later. Freshman Ben Jones found the back of the net off an assist from Denson at the 26:03 mark and Paulo Passini notched his eighth goal of the 2009 campaign in the 27th minute. "It was a strange night," said Anderson head coach Rob Miller. "Moving the location of and the weather just made it feel different. We created some opportunities and took advantage of those chances." The native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil posted his second score of the match early in the second frame, with Adrien Mouffllet and Rayon Markland closing out the scoring for AU in the second half. Barton, which was playing its first conference contest of the season, fell to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the league. The Trojans get back in action Wednesday, Sept. 23, when AU opens a two-game road trip at Erskine. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Huggins Field.
