Trojans Post Conference Win Past Queens

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson mens soccer team continued its winning ways Saturday, scoring three goals in the second half to defeat conference-foe Queens University, 4-1, at the AU Soccer Field. Anderson (5-0, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) was led by senior Paulo Passini, who notched a hat-trick, scoring all three of the team's goal in the second half. "Paulo had an unbelievable game" said Anderson head coach Rob Miller. However it was Queens who got off to a quick start, scoring just two minutes into the game when Patrick Morgan was able to put one past Trojan goal keeper Benjamin Pepion. But the Trojans bounced back minutes later on a right-footed boot from Ryan Messick that tied the game. After the goal from Messick, the Trojans were able to settle down and play their game. "We just started slow, and then were able to get focused later" Miller added. "We played really well after the first goal." Passini started his scoring spree with a goal at the 57:33 mark off an assist from James Moseley. He would add another just 12 minutes later. He then put the game away with a header off a beautiful cross from Mark Smith at the 73:49 mark. Queens fell to 2-2 overall on the season and 0-1 in the league. The Trojans are at home next Saturday, September 19 against Barton with kick-off slated for 7 p.m. at the AU Soccer Field.
