Passini Named Player of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. -- After scoring three second-half goals to help lead Anderson to a 4-1 conference-opening win past Queens last Saturday night, senior Paulo Passini has been named Conference Carolinas mens soccer Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. In the Trojans lone match of the week, Passini scored three second-half goals, including the game-winner at the 57:33 mark, to help rally the 19th ranked Trojans past Queens and boosted Anderson's home unbeaten streak to 15 matches, dating back to October, 2007. Passini started his scoring spree with a goal at the 57:33 mark when teammate James Moseley dropped off an assist from just a couple yards away and Passini blasted the shot to the back of the net. He added another score just 12 minutes later to give AU some breathing room and put the game away with a header off a long cross from Mark Smith at the 73:49 mark. The native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, leads the explosive Trojans' offense with seven goals, 15 points and two game-winners on the season, and owns a shooting percentage of .350. "Paulo had an outstanding game," Anderson head coach Rob Miller. "He's scored in a variety of ways and is playing really well. It's a well-deserved honor." Anderson is 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the league heading into Saturday's home contest against Barton. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the AU Soccer Field.
