AC Plays Host To St. Andrews Wednesday

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson College men's soccer team will play host to St. Andrews Presbyterian College in the first round of the 2005 CVAC Tournament Wednesday at 7 p.m. Anderson, 8-8-2 overall, is seeded third in the tournament. This is Anderson's second trip ever to the CVAC Tournament. It is the first time Anderson has been one of the top four seeds and been a host for a first-round tournament game. "To finish in third place in the CVAC is a major step forward for our program," said Anderson head coach Rob Miller. "We're excited about participating in the tournament. St. Andrews enters Wednesday's match with a record of 9-7-1. During the regular season, Anderson beat St. Andrews 4-0 at Anderson on Sept. 17. Michael Zion had one goal and two assists to lead the Trojans, who jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 40 minutes of the match. In other first round matches, Barton will travel to top-seeded Queens, No. 7 Lees-McRae will visit No. 2 Belmont Abbey, and No. 5 Pfeiffer will journey to No. 4 Mount Olive. The first-round winners will advance to the semifinal round at Belmont Abbey on Saturday.
