Anderson, Brevard Tie 2-2

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson College and Brevard College battled to a 2-2 tie in a non-conference men's match Tuesday night at Smethers Field. Anderson, 8-7-2 overall, spotted Brevard a 2-0 lead in the first 18 minutes of the match as Rob Moore scored two goals in a seven-minute span for the Tornadoes. But from that point, Anderson dominated play. The Trojans scored their first goal at 37:06 when Stephon Henry chipped a ball in the box to Tolu Popoola, who found the back of the Brevard net. The Trojans scored again at 60:31 when Popoola pushed a pass to Michael Zion in the center, who then tallied the equalizer. Anderson outshot Brevard, 24-12 and held a huge 15-2 advantage in the second half. But Anderson's relentless pressure in the second half resulted in just one goal. There was a total of 41 fouls in the match -- 22 for Brevard and 19 for Anderson -- and there were five yellow cards -- three against Brevard and two against Anderson. Brevard goalkeeper Matt Ouellette made seven saves, while Anderson goalkeeper Jack Ward made four saves. The Trojans wrap up the regular season Saturday at Pfeiffer.
