ROEBUCK, S.C. – With three golfers finishing tied for 12th, the Anderson women's golf team finished third at the Converse Spring Invitational, which was hosted by the Valkyries at the par 72 5,881-yard Carolina Club layout.
Lee led the two-day event wire-to-wire, finishing a comfortable 23 strokes ahead of the host Valkyries. The Trojans opened Tuesday's final round in second place, but slipped one spot to third. Catawba finished nine strokes further back in fourth place, with Erskine jumping from seventh to fifth. Trevecca Nazarene and North Greenville shared sixth place, with King and Brevard rounding out the nine-team field.
Limestone's Reme Cortez claimed individual medalist honors with a 1-over-par 145 and finished seven shots in front of Converse's Tyler Dawson and Trevecca Nazarene's Rachel McMahan.
AU's Tiffany Elam, Anna Freeman and Kate Hill each carded two-day 15-over-par 159s and shared 12th place, with senior Riley Lovorn (168) earning a tie for 26th place. Junior Samantha Ellison (179) finished 37th.
Following a two-week layoff, the Trojans will get back on the links at the two-day Pfeiffer Invitational, which will take place at Hilton Head Lakes Golf Club.
