Freeman Named SAC Freshman of the Year; Hill Earns Second-Team All-Conference Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – On the eve of the South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship, sophomore Kate Hill has been named Second-Team All-Conference, while Anna Freeman earned SAC Freshman of the Year honors, as announced by the league office, late Friday morning.

Freeman, who competed in all eight tournaments this season, becomes AU's second SAC Freshman of the Year honoree in as many seasons, after Hill captured the honor at the conclusion of last season. A native of Aiken, S.C., Freeman is the Trojans' third women's golfer to earn the accolade, after former standout Katie Eskew garnered the award in 2011.

Hill notched a team-best 76.88 stroke average through 17 rounds this season, while Freeman was close behind with a 77.94 average. Freeman book-ended the year with a tie for seventh at the AU Invitational last September and a share of eighth place at the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic in late March. She posted back-to-back low-round 73s at the Pfeiffer Invitational, which was hosted at Hilton Head Lakes early last month and notched five top-10 finishes, including a share of second place at the Pfeiffer Invitational.

A native of Clemson, S.C., Hill led the Trojans in four tournaments this year, while recording four top-10 finishes, including a second-place finish at the AU Invitational, and finished lower than 13th just once in eight tournaments. Hill carded a season-best 74 in the second round of the AU Invitational and again in the opening round of the Pfeiffer Invitational.

The 2018 SAC Women's Golf Championship will be hosted by Newberry, April 15-17, at the Members Club at Woodcreek in Elgin, S.C.
