Women’s Golf Finishes 14th at Flagler’s Fall Slam

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Led by sophomore Kate Hill's two-day 11-over-par-155, the Anderson women's golf team finished 14th, Tuesday at the Flagler Fall Slam.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament was hosted by the Saints at the 6,062 yard, par-72 Marsh Creek Country Club.

Barry won its third straight title and seventh overall, after holding off Tampa by a single stroke. Wingate slipped out of a tie for second place following Monday's first round and finished third, six shots behind the Spartans. Lee jumped from eighth place to fourth, while Tarleton State claimed fifth place. Seminole State posted the day's best round and lept from 12th to finish tied for sixth, alongside Limestone. St. Edwards and the host Saints finished eighth and ninth, respectively, with Queens claiming the 10th spot.

UNC Pembroke, Embry-Riddle, Montevallo, Anderson, Columbus State, Eckerd, Eastern Florida State and Mars Hill finished out the 18-team field.

Tarleton State's Casey Wild (72-68=140), who began the day as one of five golfers just one shot behind the leaders and was just one of two golfers equal the course record by shooting 4-under-par on Tuesday, earned the individual title by two strokes over Wingate's Diana McDonald.

Hill finished in a five-way tie for 42nd place, while freshman Anna Freeman vaulted 18 spots and claimed a share of 62nd place after carding a two-day 160. Senior Riley Lovorn, who began the day four strokes off the pace, finished in a tie for 66th, alongside teammate Makalyn Poole after both posted identical 161s for the tournament.

Junior Tiffany Elam shared 68th place following a two-round 162, while fellow junior Samantha Ellison tied for 81st.

The Trojans will wrap up their fall schedule with an appearance next week at the South Atlantic Conference Preview, which will be hosted by Newberry at the Members Club at Woodcreek in Columbia, S.C.
