Women’s Golf in Fifth Place Following Two Rounds of Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic

WALLACE, N.C. – Paced by freshman Anna Freeman's two-round 156, the Anderson women's golf team is in fifth place following opening-day action Monday at the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic, which is being hosted by UNC Pembroke Monday at the 5,812 yard, par-72 River Landing Golf Club layout.

Lenoir-Rhyne leads the 11-team field by four strokes over the host Braves and Carson-Newman, while Wingate slipped from first place following the first round into fourth and the Trojans are seven strokes further back in fifth place.
Lincoln Memorial and Mount Olive are sixth and seventh, respectively, while Catawba, Erskine, Southern New Hampshire and Mars Hill round out the field.

Lenoir-Rhyne's Ainee O'Connor and UNC Pembroke's Madison Corley lead the chase for individual medalist honors after each carded a two-round 151 and are one shot in front of LMU's Lise Malherbe.

Freeman (80-76=156) is tied for ninth heading into Tuesday's final round, while sophomore Kate Hill (77-80=157) and junior Tiffany Elam sits (79-78=_157) are tied for 13th. Senior Riley Lovorn shares 33rd place following a two-round 166. Junior Samantha Ellison (88-85=173) rounded out the Trojan contingent in a share of 44th place.

The third and final round is slated for Tuesday.
