Dillard Named SAC Defensive Player of the Year, Mollenhauer Earns All-SAC Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University women's basketball graduate student Alexis Dillard and sophomore Alexy Mollenhauer earned South Atlantic Conference postseason honors highlighted by Dillard's Defensive Player of the Year accolade, as released by the league office on Thursday.

Along with the SAC player honors, the Trojans earned Statistical Champions in three team categories, Team FG Percentage Defense (34.8%), Team Rebounding (1,265) and Team Blocked Shots (156). Individually, Dillard was named statistical champion in Field Goal Percentage (54.9%).

Dillard earned the SAC's inaugural Defensive Player of the Year award which was voted on by the league coaches. During the season, Dillard tallied 38 blocked shots, 14 steals and ripped down 173 defensive rebounds.

Dillard's outstanding play over the course of the 2017-18 season landed her on the All-SAC First Team. The native of Taylors, S.C. started all 28 contests while averaging 11.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Dillard posted nine double-doubles throughout the season amassing 21 for her career.

Mollenhauer earned All-SAC Honorable Mention after averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. The native of Lindale, Texas scored in double-figures on 17 occasions while clipping the 20-point mark three times. Mollenhauer made 46 3-points baskets while shooting and impressive 41.1% from behind the arc.

Anderson returns to action on Saturday in the SAC Semifinals versus Wingate. Tip-off is scheduled at Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. at 2:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the SAC Championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.
