Women’s Basketball Slotted No. 7 in the D2SIDA Southeast Region Preseason Poll

DURANGO, COLO. – The Anderson University women's basketball team was slotted seventh in the Preseason Southeast Region Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the regional committee on Monday.

Anderson is one of four teams represented in the poll from the South Atlantic Conference. SAC regular season champion Lincoln Memorial claimed the second spot while Wingate landed in the fourth position. Carson-Newman was placed tied for 10th.

Columbus State, which eliminated Anderson from the postseason received five first place votes to earn the top spot, while Peach Belt Conference member Lander earns the third position. Conference Carolinas member Limestone sits in the fifth slot while PBC member Clayton State ranks sixth. CC member King (Tenn.) lands in the eighth spot while PBC members North Georgia and Francis Marion round out the top ten.

The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, is in its fourth year of existence. The regional poll will be released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.

Anderson opens up its regular season play on Friday, Nov. 10 at the 2017 PBC-SAC Challenge hosted by Wingate. The Trojans face off against Clayton State at 5 p.m.
