Trojans Dominate Erskine to Pick Up Fourth Straight Win of the Season; 84-42

 

DUE WEST S.C. – The Anderson University women's basketball team continued its' dominate play defeating nonconference rival Erskine, 84-42, to also earn a coveted point towards the Beville competition on Saturday evening at Belk Arena.

With the win, Anderson moves to 4-0 on the season while pulling the Trojans within half a point in the Beville Cup Standings (3.5-3). The setback drops the Flying Fleet to 1-3 on the young season.

The Trojans placed three players in double-digits with forward Alexis Dillard scoring a game-high 15 points. Junior Ace Easter netted 13 points while Junior Erika Martin came off the bench to score 11 points and grab six rebounds.

Capping off the Trojans' scoring was sophomore Alexy Mollenhauer (9), sophomore Hannah Hodges (8) with her first career start, sophomores Madison Baggett and Amari Grevious (6) with Baggett chasing down seven rebounds and dishing out eight assists, sophomore Makala Green and freshman Taylor Hair (5) and senior Jasmine Raynor  and freshman Jennifer Bollinger (3). 

Erskine placed two in double-figures with Megan Davis and Alexis Scott scoring 14 points each. The next closet point total for the Flying Fleet were two players with four points and the only other scoring were two players with three apiece.

The Black and Gold led wire-to-wire gaining its largest lead, 69-25, on a made 3-point basket by Baggett at the 8:09 mark of the fourth period.

Head Coach Jonathon Barbaree's Thoughts: "Glad to get the road win over Erskine. We still need to defend better and finish at the free throw line."

-The Trojans have pulled down 50 or more rebounds over the first four games of the season.
- Anderson has held its opponents to less than 30% in three of the four games.
-Dillard and Easter have scored in double-figures each of the four games.
-Tonight's win marked the 16th straight win for the Black and Gold over Erskine.
 
Anderson remains on the road to play Minnesota State – Moorhead at the Tampa Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m.
