Trojans Set to Play in NCAA Tournament

ANDERSON, S.C.- Anderson University women's basketball is set to square off against No.1 Carson-Newman on Friday after receiving an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament at host site Carson-Newman's Holt Fieldhouse.

The Trojans will meet No. 1 Carson-Newman for the third time this season. The two previous meeting resulted in wins for Eagles with the latest occurring on Wednesday, Jan. 31. The Trojans and Eagles have met on 20 occasions with Carson-Newman claiming a 12-8 advantage while winning the last five out of six meetings.

The Black and Gold have were led by two All-SAC selections, headlined by SAC Defensive Player of the Year choice Alexis Dillard. In 30 games played, Dillard pulled down 185 defensive rebounds, recorded 43 blocks and 18 steals on the season. The native of Taylors, S.C. averaged 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

Dillard earned All-SAC First Team honors while Mollenhauer landed on the Honorable Mention Team. Mollenhauer made 29 starts averaging 11.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest. As a team, Anderson ranked number one in Team Field Goal Percentage Defense (34.8%), Team Rebounding (1,265) and Team Blocked Shots (156).

Every game of the Southeast Regional will be played at Carson-Newman's Holt Fieldhouse, as the Eagles earned the No. 1 seed after a stellar 29-2 season and by claiming the South Atlantic Conference Tournament title this past weekend. The EaglesBar enter the tournament ranked No. 7 nationally.

Anderson matches up with the winner of Lander/Limestone should it win its quarterfinal game. The Trojans' NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal game against Carson-Newman is set for a 5 p.m. tip-off at the Holt Fieldhouse.
