Softball Team Places Three On All-CVAC Team

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The Anderson University softball team placed three players on the All-CVAC team and third baseman Meredith Knox was named CVAC Freshman of the Year. Knox, a native of Washington, N.C., led the Lady Trojans in batting average (.416), at bats (137), runs scored (45), hits (57), and doubles (18). In addition to being named Freshman of the Year, Knox was named to the All-CVAC first team. Joining Knox on the first team was Kayla Williams. Williams, a sophomore catcher from Anderson, led the Lady Trojans in home runs (10), RBI (51), total bases (98), and slugging percentage (.748). Behind the plate, Williams committed just one error in 216 chances. Pitcher Ashley Rogers was the third AU player named to the All-CVAC team. Rogers, a senior from Liberty, S.C., was a second-team selection. During the regular season, Rogers was 12-5 with a 2.79 ERA. In 115 1/3 innings, she struck out 110 and walked 58. The opposition batted just .213 against her.
