Softball Team Splits With Mars Hill

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson University Lady Trojans split a doubleheader with Mars Hill Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. In the first game, Mars Hill routed Anderson, 10-1, but the Lady Trojans bounced back to take a 7-2 victory in the second game. Kayla Williams, who was 3-for-3 with four RBI and two home runs led the Lady Trojans offensively in the second game. In the first game, the Lions took control early scoring four runs in the first inning and taking advantage of Anderson's sloppy defense. The Lady Trojans made six errors in first game. Senior pitcher Ashley Rogers recorded seven strikeouts and gave up two hits and three runs to earn to win for the Lady Trojans in the second game. The Lady Trojans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of the second game. They added five runs in the third inning highlighted by a two-run homer by Williams. Williams added her second home run of the game in the fifth inning. The Lady Trojans out hit the Lions 8-3 in the second game.
