Softball Team Sweeps Lees-McRae

ANDERSON, S.C. - Allison Cromer was 3-for-3, scored three runs, and drove in two runs to lead Anderson University to a 10-5 victory over Lees-McRae in the second game and a sweep of a CVAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. In the first game, Ashley Rogers recorded 10 strikeouts to lead the Lady Trojans to a 4-2 victory over the Bobcats. Rogers, a senior from Liberty, S.C., allowed just two hits and two earned runs in seven innings. The Lady Trojans scored three runs in the third inning on a three-run homer by Kayla Williams. A two-run double by Lees-McRae's Paula Fryar in the sixth cut the Anderson lead to 3-2. Anderson got an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a solo homer by Kayla Thrasher. Lees-McRae started the second game with two runs in the first on a two-run homer by Dakota Beck. Anderson tied the game at 2 in the second on an RBI double by Brittany Gary and a run-scoring single by Melissa Carmichael. Leading 5-3, the Lady Trojans scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth. The big hit in the inning was a two-run triple by Cromer. Ellen Steele hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give Anderson a 10-3 lead. The Lady Trojans are now 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the CVAC. Anderson University Softball Season Statistics
