Men’s Track and Field Predicted to Finish Sixth in Preseason Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Anderson University men's track and field team has been picked to finish sixth in the South Atlantic Conference Championship, as voted by the league's head coaches and released by the conference office on Tuesday.

Defending champion Wingate was picked to win the title after picking up five top votes and receiving 66 points from the panel. Wingate won the 2014 South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field title by 75 points as the Bulldogs turned in a score of 231 points.

Mars Hill finished second in the poll with 57 points. The Lions placed third in last year's SAC Championship as it picked up 127 points. Queens placed third in the voting with three top-votes and 56 points to round out the top three. The Royals finished fourth overall a season ago as it notched 112 points at the 2014 SAC Track & Field Championship.

Lenoir-Rhyne came in fourth in the voting with 51 points, followed by Carson-Newman, who received 48 points. Anderson was voted sixth with 47 points, while first-year program Coker landed at the No. 7 slot with 27 points. Lincoln Memorial, another first-year program, placed eighth in the poll with 26 points and Brevard finished up the poll at No. 9 as it picked up 19 points.

A trio of Trojan freshmen - Christopher Burton, Mason Hazel and Anthony Aleruchi were named as athletes to watch as the season unfolds.

The Trojans opened their outdoor season two weeks ago at the Coastal Carolina Invitational and resume their slate on Friday and Saturday at both the Emory Invitational and the Raleigh Relays.
