Vock Named to Track and Field Coaching Staff

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University head track and field head coach Randy Greer has announced that former Spring Arbor University assistant throws coach Branden Vock has been named throws coach for the Trojans and has begun working with the teams.

Vock, a native of Burton, Mich., will be responsible for recruiting and coaching the throwers as well as furthering the development of the track and field weight room programs.

"I am really excited to have Branden join our staff," said Greer. "He is a young coach with a lot of knowledge and passion for the sport. We have always had a good throwing tradition here at AU and I know Branden is excited to be a part of that."

Vock earned his bachelors' degree in sociology from Spring Arbor in 2014, while competing on the Cougar's track and field squad from 2012-14. He began his collegiate career at Albion College (Mich.) in 2010.

Most recently, Vock served as a strength coach with Elite Strength and Conditioning in Jackson, Mich., where he instructed clients with a variety of specific goals and workouts. He scheduled and maintained client's training sessions and programmed each client's functional strength training programs to meet their individual needs.

As an assistant throws coach with Spring Arbor, Vock developed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for the track and field athletes, while teaching the throwers how to execute Olympic lifts, plyometric explosiveness and sprints. In addition to training and evaluating athletes, Vock also showcased detailed strength and conditioning programs to recruits and their parents.

Vock also found time in his hectic schedule to serve as a volunteer as an off-site meal coordinator for the Salvation Army.

After posting impressive performances at their first two indoor meets, the Trojans are scheduled to get back in action at the UCS Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Feb. 20-21.
