Track and Field Wraps up Action at Coastal Carolina Invite

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams closed out the second day of competition at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Saturday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium with 11 top-20 finishes on the day.

Freshman Anthony Aleruchi claimed 12th in the discus throw with a toss of 40.37 meters, with sophomore Eric Hoover taking 36th with a distance of 32.57 meters. Sophomore Ben Boerma placed 18th in the men's 3000 meter run in a time of 9:20.40, with freshman Mason Hazel capturing sixth in the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:02.54.

The freshman tandem of Caleb Stephenson (50.45) and Rashod Monts (53.43) placed 17th and 43rd in the 400 meter dash, respectively.

The duo of freshmen Christopher Burton (11.05) and T.J. Robinson (11.34) finished 12th and 29th, respectively in the 100 meter dash, with Burton claiming 18th in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.84 and Robinson taking 31st in a time of 23.40.

Senior Joshua Visi-Clark was ninth in the 800 meter run in a time of 1:59.15, while sophomore Jesse Patrick crossed the line in 21st in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:40.82.

The combination of Robinson, Stephenson, Burton and Joseph Siegwald brought home fifth place in the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 42.73.

On the women's side, senior Savanna Keese placed 40th in the discus throw with a toss of 25.65 meters, with junior D'Yandra Morris claiming 27th in the shot put with a distance of 10.55 meters.

Sophomore Amber Worthy captured 11th in the 3000 meter in a time of 11:25.19, with classmate Sherin Malone taking 22nd place in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 15.86. Freshman Taylor Morris earned 21st in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.80.

Senior Sydney Hazel brought home eighth in the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:54.45, with sophomore Bari Robinson crossing the line in 18th with a time of 5:01.21. The freshman duo of Haylee Love (5:04.56) and Alex Dixon (5:17.42) finished 22nd and 31st, respectively.

The Trojans are slated to get back in action on March 27-28, when the squads will split, with some heading to the Raleigh Relays and others heading to the Emory Classic.
