Trojans Wrap up Day Two at Buccaneer Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Led by senior Sydney Hazel's first-place finish in the women's one mile run, the Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Buccaneer Track and Field Invitational, hosted by East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn., on Saturday.

Hazel won the mile run in a time of 5:22.62, which was nearly three seconds faster than her nearest competitor. Freshman Haylee Love (5:33.59) captured 12th, while fellow freshman Alex Dixon crossed the line in a time of 5:36.09 to place 21st.

Sophomore Sherin Malone placed fifth in the finals of the women's 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.01 seconds, with freshman Allison Halperin crossing the line in 43rd in the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:09.09. Sophomore Bari Robinson claimed 11th in the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.80, while newcomer Taylor Morris finished 25th in a time of 2:30.79. Junior D'Yandra Morris placed 28th in the shot put with a toss of 10.84 meters.

The combination of Rashod Monts, Christopher Burton, Joshua Visi-Clark and Caleb Stephenson set a new school record in the men's 4x400 meter relay with a 21st-place finish in a time of 3:31.13, with Visi-Clark also taking home 13th in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:01.51.

The sophomore tandem of Jesse Patrick (9:52.92) and Michael Burch (9:56.56) claimed 31st and 32nd, respectively, in the 3000 meter run, while freshman Joseph Siegwald (5.69 meters) and sophomore Eric Hoover (5.47 meters) finished 38th and 42nd in the men's long jump.

The Trojans are slated to return to action at the USC Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Feb. 20-21.
