GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – In a preview of next week's South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship, sophomore Tiffany Elam and freshman Kate Hill each earned All-Tournament honors, Tuesday at the Agnes McAmis Memorial, which was hosted by Tusculum at the par 72, 5910 yard Link Hills Country Club layout.
After having Monday's round washed out due to heavy rain, King won the two-round tournament by 10 shots over runner-up Wingate. Coker slipped from a tie for the top spot after Tuesday's first round into third, while the host Pioneers claimed fourth. Lenoir-Rhyne was one shot further back in fifth, while Lincoln Memorial finished sixth.
Queens, Belmont Abbey, Catawba, Newberry, Spartanburg Methodist, North Greenville and Tusculum (B) rounded out the 14-team field.
Elam (78-71=149) slashed seven strokes from Tuesday morning's first round and finished as runner-up to King's Fiona Hebbel (73-70=143) in the chase for individual medalist honors. Wingate's Katie Kasper (75-75=150) was one stroke behind Elam in third place, with Pfeiffer's Meghan Holbrooks (75-75=151) claiming fourth. Hill (78-74=152) finished in a three-way tie for fifth. Sophomore Makalyn Poole (84-78=162) rounded out the Trojan contingent by sharing 35th place.
Tusculum is slated to host the SAC Championship, April 9-11, on the same course.
