Women’s Golf Stands in Fourth Place after First Round of Pfeiffer Invitational

HARDEESVILLE, S.C. – Sophomore Tiffany Elam posted an even-par-72 to lead the the Anderson University women's golf team, as the Trojans find themselves in fourth place after the opening round of the Pfeiffer Invitational, which is being hosted by the Falcons at the par 72, 5,800-yard, Hilton Head Lakes course.

West Georgia and Wingate lead the 17-team field by five shots over King, while AU is five shots further back in fourth place. Erskine and Mount Olive share the fifth spot, with Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne tied for seventh. Converse is alone in ninth, with North Greenville and Southern Wesleyan even in 10th place.

Chowan, Bridgewater College, Randolph-Macon, Quincy, Pfeiffer and Emmanuel round out the field.

Wingate's Cristina Casanella posted a 2-under-par 70 and leads four other golfers by two strokes to lead the chase for individual medalist honors.

Elam is in a tie for sixth with her opening-round effort, while junior Riley Lovorn is tied for ninth after carding a 2-over-par 74. Sophomore Makalyn Poole shares 29th place following a first-round 77, with freshman Kate Hill (79) two shots further back in a tie for 40th. Sophomore Blake Hodges is tied for 50th after carding an 81.

The second and final round is set for Tuesday.
