ANDERSON, S.C. – Led by sophomore Tiffany Elam's two-day 13-over-par 157, the Anderson University women's golf team finished third at the AU Invitational, which was hosted by the Trojans at the par-72, 5,940-yard Cobb's Glen Country Club.
Queens University of Charlotte (312-307=619) led the two-day tournament wire-to-wire and claimed the team title by a comfortable eight strokes over runner-up Lincoln Memorial (314-313=627). The top five spots remained unchanged from Monday's opening round, with the Trojans (316-324=640) claiming the third slot and Erskine finishing 13 shots further back following a two-round 653. Converse remained steady and finished fifth after identical 333s, with Emmanuel (344-334=678) moving up one spot to sixth.
Catawba (343-340-683) and North Greenville (360-331=691) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, while Spartanburg Methodist had a player withdraw and was unable to compete as a team after holding the eighth spot following Monday's first round.
Queens' Natalie Pleyerova held onto her first-round lead, while carding a two-day 149 to earn individual medalist honors by five strokes over Lincoln Memorial's Reagan Greene and six shots over the Railsplitter's Lise Malherbe.
Elam carded four birdies and reached par on 22 holes during the tournament, while finishing fifth with her 157. Fellow sophomore Makalyn Poole improved by a pair of shots on Tuesday and shared sixth place with a two-day 14-over-par 158. Junior Riley Lovorn slipped from sharing third place to a tie for 15th following a two-round 163.
Freshman Kate Hill (84-80-164) jumped from a tie for 24th to a share of 17th after shaving four strokes from her first-round effort, with junior Morgan Webb also sharing 17th place with a two-day 164.
Sophomore Samantha Ellison (89-84=173) finished tied for 32nd, with sophomore Blake Hodges finishing in 38th place.
The Trojans return to action at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate on Oct. 3-4.
