SALISBURY, N.C. – Sophomore Tiffany Elam posted a 1-over-par 73 to pace the Anderson University women's golf team, as the Trojans share fourth place following opening-round action at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational on Monday.
The two-day event is being hosted by Catawba at the par-72, 6,005 yard Country Club of Salisbury course.
Tusculum leads the 14-team field by one stroke over fellow South Atlantic Conference-member Wingate, while Lenoir-Rhyne is two shots further back in third. Anderson and Lincoln Memorial share the fourth spot, with North Georgia and Young Harris in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Belmont Abbey is in eighth place entering Tuesday's final round, with King in ninth. Erskine is one shot further back in 10th place, while Coker is 11th. The host Lady Indians are 12th, with Barton and North Greenville rounding out the field.
Wingate's Cristina Casanella holds a one-shot lead over Tusculum's Ciara Rattana following Monday's opening round, with Elam, L-R's Abbey Hartsell and YHC's Hannah Walker each sharing the third spot, just two strokes off the pace.
Elam (73) posted five birdies on the day, while carding her lowest score of the season, with fellow sophomore Makalyn Poole and freshman Kate Hill each carding a 6-over-par 78 and sharing 14th place. Hill collected three birdies through the first 18 holes. Sophomore Riley Lovorn is tied for 35th after a first-round 81 and sophomore Blake Hodges (87) shares the 63rd slot.
The final round is set for Tuesday.
