Trojan Golf Signs Pair of Prep Standouts

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Director of Men's and Women's Golf Danny Neal has announced that the Trojans inked a pair of prep standouts to National Letters of Intent during the recent early signing period.

Anna Freeman, a native of Aiken, S.C., and Colt Martin from nearby Pendleton, S.C., will begin their collegiate careers with the Black and Gold in the fall of 2017.

Freeman has been a Scholar-Athlete at South Aiken High School from 2013-2016, and was named Player of the Year for the Aiken Chapter of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association (SCJGA) and earned a spot on the 2016 Class AAAA All-State Team. She was a member of the Class AAAA All-Region squad from 2013-16 and captured the No. 1 seed and was a semifinalist at the 2016 South Carolina Junior Match Play. Freeman garnered fifth place at both the 2016 Beth Daniel Junior Azalea and the 2016 CGA Carolinas Junior Girls Championship.

Of the course, Freeman has served on the Junior Council Leadership for The First Tee of Aiken.

Martin is a three-time South Carolina High School (SCHSL) Class AAA Region I Champion and a three-time Region Player of the Year while competing for the Bulldogs. He earned All-State accolades twice and won the SCJGA All-Star Tournament with a two-round 142.

He also captured the Anderson County Junior Championship and finished fourth at The Blade. Martin is a member of the National Honor Society and has been named Valedictorian of his senior class.

"We are very excited to have Anna and Colt coming to join our program," said Neal. "Anna is a proven tournament player with a solid all-around game and will be a huge asset to our women's team. Colt is a very steady player with an exceptional short game and is a proven winner in tournament play. He will be a fantastic addition to our team and school."
