SALISBURY, N.C. – With a pair of players posting top-10 scores, the Anderson University women's golf team finished in sixth place at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational, which was hosted by Catawba at the par-72, 6,005 yard Country Club of Salisbury.
Tusculum led the two-day tournament through both rounds and claimed a five-shot victory over fellow South Atlantic Conference-member Wingate, while Lenoir-Rhyne and North Georgia shared the third spot. Young Harris jumped from seventh following Monday's first-round to fifth on Tuesday, with the Trojans finishing just one shot further back in sixth. Lincoln Memorial wrapped up the tourney in seventh, with King moving up one spot to eighth and Erskine finishing ninth.
Belmont Abbey slipped from eighth to 10th, with Coker, Catawba, Barton and North Greenville rounding out the 14-team field.
Lenoir-Rhyne's Abbey Hartsell overcame a two-shot deficit on the strength of a tournament-low 4-under-par 68 on Tuesday to claim a five-stroke victory over both Tusculum's Ciara Rattana and YHC's Hannah Walker.
Anderson sophomore Tiffany Elam carded six birdies during the tournament, while firing a two-day 7-over-par 151 and earning a share of sixth place. Newcomer Kate Hill posted seven birdies and jumped from a tie for 14th after Monday's opening round to ninth place with a two-day 152. Sophomore Makalyn Poole finished the tournament in 31st place after notching a 161, with sophomore Riley Lovorn notching a two-day 167 and finishing in a tie for 55th place. Fellow sophomore Blake Hodges shared the 60th slot after a two-day 169.
The Trojans will wrap up their fall slate at the Illinois Springfield Island Getaway on Oct. 24-25.
