HARDEESVILLE, S.C. – Sophomore Tiffany Elam carded a two-day, 8-over-par 152 to lead the Anderson University women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Pfeiffer Invitational, which was hosted by the Falcons at the par 72, 5,800-yard, Hilton Head Lakes course.
West Georgia snapped a deadlock following Monday's first round to win the team title by four shots over Wingate, while King held on to third place. Lenoir-Rhyne jumped from seventh place to finish fourth, with Mount Olive claiming fifth place. The Trojans slipped from fourth to sixth, while Catawba held on to the seventh slot. Erskine and Converse shared the eighth spot, with Southern Wesleyan claiming 10th place.
Bridgewater College, North Greenville, Randolph-Macon, Chowan, Quincy, Pfeiffer and Emmanuel rounded out the 17-team field.
West Georgia's Franziska Brimm (75-71=146) won a tiebreaker on the first playoff hole to claim the individual title, besting Lenoir-Rhyne's Abbey Hartsell, Mount Olive's Matilda Wahren and West Georgia's Jordan Daniel and Layne Marie Carter, who each carded two-day 146s.
Elam finished in a tie for 22nd, with freshman Kate Hill (79-75=154) jumping into share of 26th place after finishing Monday's first round in a tie for 40th.
Sophomore Makalyn Poole and junior Riley Lovorn each shared 29th place following two-day 156s, while sophomore Blake Hodges finished alone in 44th place.
Following a four-week break, AU will resume its spring schedule at the Agnes McAmis Memorial in Greeneville, Tenn.
