Rettinger Named Assistant Trainer

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Vanessa Rettinger has been named assistant athletic trainer at Anderson College, AC athletic director Bobby Beville announced Monday. "Vanessa brings a wealth of experience to our sports medicine department," Beville said. "She has experience as both a Division II athlete and trainer. She is a good fit for Anderson College." Rettinger earned a B.S. in athletic training at Wingate University in 2001 and a masters degree in education at Clemson University in 2003. She comes to AC after serving two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Clemson. At Clemson, she worked with the women's soccer program and the men's tennis program. She coordinated and supervised all aspects of sports medicine for both programs. While at Clemson, she also did some student teaching in health and wellness. At Wingate, Rettinger was the head student athletic trainer for softball, men's and women's tennis, and women's tennis. She also played tennis at Wingate and served as an assistant coach and academic tutor. In the fall of 2000, she served as the head athletic trainer for the Charlotte Eagles, a Division II men's professional soccer team. She also conducted finess and endurance tests for the Charlotte Checkers of the East Coast Hockey League.
