Five Teams Surpass 3.0 GPA In The Fall

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Five of the 18 athletic teams at Anderson College had average grade-point averages of 3.0 or better during the fall semester, AC athletic director Bobby Beville announced Thursday afternoon. The women's cross country team, the 2002 Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference champions, had the highest team GPA at 3.61. Following women's cross country were women's track and field (3.46), softball (3.13), women's soccer (3.11), and women's basketball (3.02). Two other women's teams -- volleyball (2.983) and tennis (2.958) -- just missed reaching 3.00. The highest average GPA among AC's men's teams was basketball (2.72). As a department, AC's 266 student-athletes had an average GPA for the fall semester of 2.72.
