AC Finishes Fifth In CVAC All-Sports Competition

THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- Anderson College finished fifth in the 2002-03 Joby Hahn Cup competition, the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference announced Monday. The Hahn Cup, named for former commissioner H.C. "Joby" Hahn, is awarded annually to the school with the best all-around program. Barton College finished first in this year's competition with 99 points. Barton, with a third-place finish in the men's golf tournament, edge Pfeiffer for the Hahn Cup title. Pfeiffer finished second with 98 points, Longwood was third with 86.5 points, Queens (N.C.) was fourth with 83 points, and Anderson was fifth with 82 points. Following Anderson were Lees-McRae, Belmont Abbey, Mount Olive, Coker, Limestone, St. Andrews, and Erskine. Anderson led the South Carolina members of the CVAC and finished with more than twice as many points as 12th-place Erskine, which managed just 38 points. Barton won the Hahn Cup with an amazing spring performance. The Bulldogs scored nine or more points in four of the five spring sports.
