Trojans Rout Emmanuel, 18-7

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson College scored six runs in the first inning and six runs in the fifth inning and cruised to an 18-7 victory over Emmanuel Thursday night at Anderson Memorial Stadium. Anderson, 25-13 overall, banged out 22 hits against two Emmanuel pitchers. Five Anderson players had three hits in the game - Caleb Owen, Jared Taylor, Jason Jones, Donavon Schmidt, and Johnny Garrett. Owen and Schmidt both missed the cycle by one hit. Owen had a single, a double, and a triple, while Schmidt had a single, a double, and a home run. Anderson had eight extra base hits in the game. Owen, Vildosola, Jones, Schmidt, Garrett, and Nick Wates all had doubles, Owen and Taylor both had triples, and Schmidt hit a home run. F.A. Vildosola led the Trojans in RBI with four. A two-run homer by Schmidt and a two-run double by Garrett were the big hits in Anderson's six-run first. In the six-run fifth, Taylor had a two-run triple and Vildosola had an RBI double. The Trojans travel to Pfeiffer this weekend to challenge the Falcons, who are tied with Mount Olive for the CVAC lead. Anderson enters the Pfeiffer series just one-half game out of first place in the CVAC.
