Women’s Golf Seventh Following Opening Round at Boscobel Intercollegiate

PENDLETON, S.C. - Led by junior Kalyn Johnson's four-over par 76, the Anderson University women's golf team finds itself in seventh place following opening-round action at the 2010 at Wofford's Boscobel Intercollegiate at the 5,999 yard par-72 Boscobel Golf Course.

Johnson (37-39=76) is in a three-way tie for third, just two shots off the lead headinginto Sunday's final round.

The defending champion and host Terriers hold a six stroke lead over Appalachian State and Pfeiffer, with Wofford's Alex Rankin and Pfeiffer's Steph Peareth sharing the individual lead with an 18-hole round of 74.

As a team, the Terriers turned in a score of 310 while the Mountaineers and Falcons sit tied for second with team scores of 316. Newberry sits in fourth place with a score of 322 with High Point (325), Presbyterian (326) and Anderson (329) completing the field.

Rankin turned in her top score with a 36 front nine and 38 back nine, while Peareth shot 37 going out and coming back in. Rankin leads the field with six birdies, while Peareth leads the field with 13 pars. Wofford's Anne Marie Covar and Newberry's Maria Luz Besio are tied with Johnson at 76.

Individually for AU, freshman Katie Eskew and senior Hayley Parks each carded an opening-round 82 and share the 21st spot, while junior Laura Buyers posted an 89 and sophomore Lindsay Parks shot a 90 and sit 40th and 41st, respectively.

Sunday's format will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
