Sunset Beach, N.C. - Junior Kalyn Johnson paced the Anderson University women's golf team with an eight-over par 80 and the Trojans are in fifth place following first-round action at the 2010 Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Golf Intercollegiate at the Sea Trail Golf Resort on Monday.
Johnson notched a 41 on the front nine, then carded a 39 over the final nine and sits in a six-way tie for 10th place, nine strokes behind the leader, Carla Cooper of Tarleton State.
Freshman Katie Eskew and junior Laura Buyers each carded opening-round 83s and are tied for 26th, while senior Hayley Parks closed out the first round with an 85 and is tied with four others in 36th. Sophomore Lindsay Parks rounded out the scoring for AU on Monday, shooting a 91 and is tied for 61st following her first round.
The teams are back on the course for final-round action on Tuesday.
