Sunset Beach, N.C. - The Anderson women's golf team fired a two-day total 671 and earned an eighth-place finish at the 2010 Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Golf Intercollegiate at the Sea Trail Golf Resort.
The Trojans posted a final-round 340, led by senior Hayley Parks (85-79=164), who carved six strokes off Monday's opening round to jump from 36th to a tie for 19th on the final day.
Junior Laura Buyers (83-84=167) carded a consistent second-round 167 to finish in a tie for 26th, while junior Kalyn Johnson (80-88=168) was one stroke further back and tied for 28th. Freshman Katie Eskew (83-89=172) closed out the event tied for 42nd and sophomore Lindsay Parks (91-91=182) rounded out the scoring for the Trojans in a tie for 60th.
Tarleton State claimed the team title with 614, 19 shots better than second place UNC Pembroke (633). Lincoln Memorial finished third with 653, followed by Catawba (658), Carson-Newman (665), Wingate (669), Tusculum (670), Anderson, Lenoir-Rhyne (679), Mount Olive (692), Limestone (702), Erskine (713), North Greenville (720), St. Andrews (720), Coker (752), Brevard (837) and Mars Hill (839) to round out the scoring for the 17-team tournament field.
Carla Cooper of Tarleton State captured medalist honors with 71-75=146.
The Trojans will get back on the links Saturday at the Boscobel Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford at the Boscobel Country Club in Pendleton, S.C.
