ROCK HILL, S.C. - Fifth-seeded Anderson got past top-seeded and 12th-ranked Mars Hill on penalty kicks in the semifinals of the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Championship Friday night at the Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex.

Anderson (5-10-4), the two-time defending tourney champions, claimed its third consecutive win, while Mars Hill (14-2-3) extended its unbeaten streak to nine matches, but the Trojans advanced into the title match for the third consecutive year on the shootout.

After 110 scoreless minutes, Anderson goalkeeper Lukas Hesse stopped three Mars Hill penalty kicks. Hesse, an All-SAC Second Team selection in 2012, allowed just one of MHC's penalty kicks to find the net, while Anderson connected on three of its four attempts. The senior was dominant in regulation and overtime as well, recording 10 saves.

Mars Hill held a 19-7 advantage in shots over AU but could never get on the board. Senior forward Shadi Harb, another member of the All-SAC Team, led the Lions with six shots in the match

AU advances to Sunday's championship to face third-seeded Lincoln Memorial, a 1-0 winner past Carson-Newman, at 4 p.m.
