WINGATE, N.C. - Anderson's Zak Moss scored his first goal of the season in the 17th minute to lift fifth-seeded Anderson past No. four seed Wingate, 1-0, in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Wednesday afternoon at the Wingate Soccer Complex.

Anderson (5-10-3), the two-time defending tourney champion, moved into the semifinals and will face the winner of the top-seeded Mars Hill vs. No. 8 seed Tusculum contest Friday at 7 p.m. at the Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill, S.C.

The Trojans, who have won five straight past the Bulldogs dating back to the 2010 campaign, including an NCAA win in 2010 and two consecutive SAC Tourney victories, have won two straight.

Wingate (10-5-1), which was ranked fifth in Wednesday's NCAA Southeast regional ranking, will wait to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Moss, a senior defender, netted his first career goal for the Black and Gold after taking a cross from sophomore forward Tapiwa Munetsi.

Wingate held a narrow 8-7 edge in shots, while Anderson recorded a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal. Trojan goalkeeper Lukas Hesse, a second-team all-conference selection, recorded two saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season. Wingate sophomore Daniel DeGraff notched three saves for the Bulldogs.
