ANDERSON, S.C. - North Georgia senior Chris Bishop's goal in the 59th minute provided the difference, as the Saints outpaced Anderson, 2-1, in nonconference men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

North Georgia improved to 4-3 with its second consecutive win, while Anderson (1-6-2) wrapped up its three-match homestand by dropping its second straight decision.

Sophomore Martin Brain gave the Trojans a brief 1-0 lead with his second goal of the season at the 11:24 mark, rocketing AU's first shot attempt of the contest into the back of the net from 15 yards out.

But the advantage was short-lived, however, as the Saints' Gustavo Cunha notched the equalizer less than three minutes later, with his shot from short range finding its way just under the crossbar in the 15th minute.

The Trojans nearly regained the lead in the 22nd minute, as North Georgia junior goalkeeper Kristopher Alonzo stopped Eduardo Cabastani's shot, but bobbled the ball and sophomore Lars Zimmerman quickly pounced on the carom, but his attempt rolled just wide of the near post.

Bishop's game-winner at the 58:55 mark came off a corner kick from teammate Amin El-Shami, with his shot slowly rolling just past the outstretched hands of a diving Lukas Hesse of the Trojans.

Hesse recorded four saves on the afternoon, but suffered the loss, while Alonzo garnered the win while making one save.

North Georgia held a 14-6 advantage in shots, including a 10-1 edge in the second half. The Saints also posted a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Anderson returns to South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday, when the Trojans visit Lincoln Memorial. Kick-off versus the Railsplitters is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
