NEWBERRY, S.C. - Using a pair of first-half goals, the Anderson men's soccer team snapped a four-game winless streak by outpacing Newberry, 2-1, in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday afternoon at the Newberry College Soccer Field.

Anderson (2-8-2, 2-3-1 SAC) earned its first road win of the season, while Newberry (3-7-1, 0-5-1 SAC) suffered its second consecutive setback and has dropped four of its last five.

Sophomore Tapiwa Munetsi's first goal of the season gave the Trojans an early 1-0 lead off a corner kick from teammate Zak Moss in the sixth minute of action and the 5-foot-8 forward followed with an assist at the 26:34 mark, finding midfielder Martin Brain with a low cross. Brain's shot from 10 yards away found the back of the net and turned out to be his first game-winning score of the season.

Less than four minutes later, Newberry's Colt Priest trimmed the Trojan lead to 2-1 with his first goal of the season.

Both offensive attacks kept the pressure on the goalkeepers, as the teams combined for a total of 29 shots on the afternoon, with the Trojans equaling their season high with 17 attempts.

Anderson out-shot Newberry, 17-12, and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Anderson goalkeeper Lukas Hesse went the distance between the pipes, garnering a pair of saves while picking up the win. The Wolves Patrick Sweatt recorded three saves and absorbed the loss.

Anderson returns to the friendly confines of Trojan Stadium on Saturday to play host to league-leading Wingate. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
