PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Anderson men's soccer team wrapped up play in the Wyndham Boca Raton Soccer Classic, hosted by Lynn University, with a narrow 1-0 setback to the host Fighting Knights at the McCusker Sports Complex Saturday afternoon.

Anderson (0-3-1) battled the nation's second-ranked team on its home pitch, with the defense rising to the occasion, but graduate student Yannick Braeuer came through for the Fighting Knights, scoring the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute remaining in regulation as the No. 2 Fighting Knights remained undefeated at 4-0 on the year.

Lynn entered the contest having averaged nearly five goals a match in their last two contests, but the Trojan defense held the potent Fighting Knight offense in check.

The match was physical from the outset and scoring opportunities were limited as the two teams combined for just six shots, of which just three were on target. Julian Halder missed on the chance for his fifth goal in the 25th minute with a shot inside the box after Anderson senior Lukas Hesse made a diving stop. Likewise, Matt DiCerbo kept the game knotted at one in the 31st minute with a diving one-on-one save from a Lars Zimmerman shot.

Zimmerman missed on two shots at the top of the box with a seven minute span while Halder and Johnny Mertle each had opportunities within 20-yards for the Fighting Knights.

However, the impact of the game changed with a call in the 76th minute. At the 75:33 mark, Braeuer had a breakaway opening but was taken down from behind the Trojan's Stefan Veljovic, sending him off the field and forcing Anderson to play a man down. Six minutes later, Braueuer dribbled through the defense off a throw in and scored on a shot to the left side netting for the game-winner.

Lynn had to fight off a pair of last-minute rallies from the Trojans when Will Treichler nearly tied the game with header that missed over the net. Zimmerman had the final chance with 44 ticks on the clock but his header inside the 18-yard box sailed wide left.

Julian Halder led LU with five shots and three shots on goal. DiCerbo tallied three saves while Jesse turned away four shots. Overall, Lynn outshot the Trojans 10-7 and had a 10-4 corner kick advantage.

Anderson returns home to face Coker for a brief one-match homestand on Wednesday, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. at Trojan Stadium.
