Ogawa Earns Academic All-District Honors

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University senior defender Shu Ogawa has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District III men's soccer first team for NCAA Division II, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday afternoon.

Ogawa, a native of Kanagawa, Japan, has started every match this season, earning First-Team All-SAC accolades for the second consecutive year after starting every match this season. The defensive midfielder tied for third on the team in assists, while recording six shots on the season, including two shots on goal. Ogawa also earned Second-Team All-Southeast Region accolades in 2010 and has been named to the Anderson University Dean's List six times. He was also named to SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and is a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma Honor Society.

First‐team Academic All‐District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All‐America® Team ballot, where first‐, second‐ and third‐team All‐America honorees will be selected later this month.

In order to earn recognition, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and are voted upon by CoSIDA members. CoSIDA District III includes the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas.

Anderson will get back on the pitch Friday in the semifinals of the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament, when the Trojans will face top-seeded Mars Hill at the Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill, S.C.
