GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Tyler Midgett delivered walk-off home runs in both games of a CVAC doubleheader as the Limestone College baseball team swept Anderson College on Saturday afternoon. Midgett, who has 13 RBI in his last three games, hit a two-run shot in game one and a three-run homer in game two to give the Saints a pair of 12-10 victories over the Trojans. In game one, Anderson scored one in the first and broke the game open in the third with four runs on four hits including a two-run homer from Clint Neville. Limestone got on the board in the third with an RBI single from Matt Craig. The Saints pulled within one in the fourth when Midgett delivered a bases-clearing double to make the score 5-4. Limestone tied the game in the fifth when Matt Reel scored on a David Wise sacrifice fly. Neville homered again in the top of the sixth, but Limestone answered in the bottom of the frame with a sacrifice fly from Travis Clary. The Trojans scored two runs on a two-run shot from Kyle Lewis in the seventh and two more on a Don Ballard double in the eighth to lead 10-6. The Saints rallied in the bottom of the eighth. The Saints started the inning off with four consecutive hits and tied the game on a two-out single from Mitch House. The game remained tied at 10 in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Rob Bouknight reached on a single and Midgett delivered the first of his two game winning homers. Drew Lovelace (2-1) tossed 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. Midgett went 3-for-4 with 6 RBI and 2 runs scored. In game two, Limestone scored two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-1 lead. Anderson came back with one in the third and four more in the fifth to take a 6-5 lead. After the Saints tied the game at 6 in the bottom of the fifth, the Trojans took a commanding 10-6 lead in the seventh and final inning, when Jessie Whiteside cracked an inside-the-park grand slam. In the bottom of the seventh, the Saints used three hits and an Anderson error to plate three runs and bring Midgett to the plate with two on and one out. Once again, Midgett delivered, this time with a three-run homer to give Limestone the 12-10 win. Tyler Anderson was credited with the win after recording the final out in the top of the seventh. Midgett went 1-for-4 with 3 RBI while Matt Craig and Richmond Lutz each added a pair of hits and a pair of RBI. The sweep improves Limestone to 16-10 overall and 9-2 in the CVAC. Anderson falls to 10-16, 2-5. The Saints and Trojans will wrap up their three-game series on Sunday in Gaffney. That game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Release Courtesy of Limestone College Game One: Limestone 12, Anderson 10 Game Two: Limestone 12, Anderson 10 Anderson College Baseball Season Statistics
