Youngblood Goes The Distance Against Falcons

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- Senior Brett Youngblood pitched his first complete game of the season and Jonathan Pitts hit a home run and drove in three runs to lead Anderson College to a 9-3 victory over Pfeiffer in a CVAC game Sunday afternoon. The victory improves Anderson to 13-18 overall and 4-7 in the CVAC, while Pfeiffer falls to 13-18, 3-8. Anderson took two of three in the weekend series from the defending CVAC champions. Youngblood, a senior from Travelers Rest, S.C., scattered eight hits, struck out four, and walked one to pick up his first victory of the season. The Trojans scored seven of their nine runs in the first four innings. Anderson scored one run in the first when Caleb Owen, who reached on an error, scored on a sacrifice fly by F.A. Vildosola. The Trojans added two more runs in the second on a single by Don Ballard, a two-out double by Jessie Whiteside, and an infield error. Anderson tacked on three more in the third to increase its lead to 6-0. The big hits in the third were a two-run homer by Pitts and an RBI single by Whiteside.
