Anderson Claims CVAC Sportsmanship Award Again

ANDERSON S.C. -- For the second consecutive year, Anderson College is the winner of the John D. Messick Sportsmanship Award, the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference announced Thursday at its annual spring meeting. The Messick Award is presented annually to the CVAC member institution judged to have exhibited the highest degree of sportsmanship among its players, coaches, and fans in the conduct of its athletics program. The vote for the award is conducted throughout the academic year by the league's head coaches. Also for the second straight year, Anderson finished third in the CVAC's Joby Hawn Cup (All-Sports award) competition. "I give credit for this award to our coaches and student-athletes," said AC athletic director Bobby Beville. "Winning the Messick Award is an annual goal for our athletic program. I am proud and extremely happy we have achieved that goal the past two years. Our student-athletes are doing a good job in the sportmanship area. Sportsmanship always will be a major point of emphasis at Anderson College."
