Chiles Named To All-Freshman Team By DII Bulletin

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson College guard LaShonda Chiles has been named to the 2004 Women's Division II Bulletin All-Freshman team. Chiles, a 5-foot-2 native of Greenwood, S.C., averaged 18.6 points per game to lead Anderson to a 25-7 record, the CVAC Tournament championship, and the school's first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. Chiles, who finished sixth in the country in free-throw percentage and 33rd in the nation in scoring, was named CVAC Freshman of the Year and MVP of the CVAC Tournament. She also led AC to its first-ever victory in the NCAA Tournament when she scored 32 points in the Lady Trojans' 88-78 victory over West Liberty State in the quarterfinals of the East Regional at California, Pa. The other members of the All-Freshman team are: Kim Davis, Southern Arkansas; Shanna Demus, Cal St. LA; Amber Rall, Ashland; Ashley Millham, Central Missouri; Erika Quigley, St. Cloud St.; Mary Lewis, St. Rose; Karen Thies, Ft. Lewis; Rachel Redick, Glenville St.; Crystal Clary, Lenior-Rhyne; and Karla Mast, Barry.
