Lady Trojans Get Past Converse, 76-65

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Anderson College jumped out to a 35-16 lead in the first 14 minutes of the game and then cruised to a 76-65 victory over Converse in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon. Anderson, 1-1 overall, was led by LaShonda Chiles with 22 points, Stephanie Ponds with 14 points, Kim Hausman with 12 points, and Shemika Reed with 10. Converse's leading scorer was Lauren Mueller with 21 points. Anderson led 44-30 at the half and led by as many as 17 -- 70-53 -- in the second half. Converse finally managed to cut the deficit under double digits with 1:05 remaining in the game. Converse, 0-5 overall, shot 42 percent from the field while AC managed just 34 percent. AC shot 35 percent (9-26) from behind the arc and made 17 of 19 from the line. Hausman was 4-for-8 from behind the arc for the Lady Trojans. AC won the boards, 49-42. Hausman and Deanna Thompson had eight rebounds apiece for the Lady Trojans. AC had 21 offensive rebounds. Season Statistics
