Lady Trojans Honored In Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Anderson University women's basketball team received a special resolution from South Carolina State House Thursday morning. As the team and coaching staff sat upstairs in the House gallery, Rep. Michael Thompson praised the Lady Trojans, 28-4 in 2007-08, for winning their third Conference Carolinas championship in the last four years. Sen. Kevin Bryant sat in the gallery with the team and presented the framed two-page resolution to Anderson head coach and Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year Jeff Dow. "It is a tremendous honor that the South Carolina House of Representatives by this resolution would recognize and commend our women's basketball program," Dow said. "I am extremely proud of our team for the effort, focus, and determination they consistently showed throughout the season." The Lady Trojans, ranked No. 19 in the final ESPN/USA TODAY Division II Coaches' Top 25, have made five straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. Anderson is one of only four schools in the nation to win at least one game in the NCAA Tournament in the last five years. After the brief ceremony, the Lady Trojans posed for a picture on the steps of the statehouse.
