Dancin' Again: Lady Trojans No. 3 In East Regional

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson Lady Trojans will be the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Division II East Regional at Indiana (Pa.), the NCAA announced Sunday night. Anderson, ranked No. 12 in the latest USA TODAY/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, is 27-3 after losing to Mount Olive 73-63 in the championship game of the Conference Carolinas Tournament Saturday afternoon. "It turned out as we expected it would," said Anderson head coach Jeff Dow. "We thought our body of work and having the sixth best record in the country was good enough to hang on to the No. 3 seed, and we're fortunate the committee saw it that way." Anderson will be making its fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Trojans are 5-4 in the NCAA Tournament and 4-0 in the first round. Anderson is the only school in the East Region that has won a first-round game the last four years. The East Regional begins Friday at Indiana's Memorial Fieldhouse. Anderson will face No. 6 seed Fairmont State (25-6) in the first round. In the other first-round games, top-seeded and host Indiana (Pa.) (27-4) will play No. 8 Mount Olive (20-10), No. 4 West Liberty State (24-5) will face No. 5 Shepherd (22-6), and No. 2 California (Pa.) will take on No. 7 Millersville (24-6). Anderson played Fairmont State two years ago during the regular season and in the 2005 NCAA East Regional at Anderson. "Fairmont State is a solid team," Dow said. "They made a late run and won their conference tournament. They have pretty good size, and they are well coached." Dow says his team must now shift gears for the NCAA Tournament. "We believe we can compete with the teams in the tournament," he said. "The challenge for us is to take it deeper than any Anderson team has before."
