Lady Trojans Move To No. 12

LILBURN, Ga. -- The Anderson University women's basketball team moved up to No. 12 in this week's USA TODAY/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Tuesday afternoon. Anderson, 26-2 overall, opened the 2008 Conference Carolinas Tournament Monday night with an 81-59 victory over Lees-McRae. The win over the Bobcats was Anderson's 19th straight. Anderson will face Belmont Abbey in the tournament semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Abney Center. The Lady Trojans are trying to win their fourth conference tournament title in the last five years. Anderson is the only team from the Carolinas in the top 25 and is the highest ranked team in the East Region. Delta State (26-0) remains the No. 1 team in the poll. Rounding out the top 10 are Seattle Pacific, South Dakota, Holy Family, North Dakota, Concordia, Alaska Anchorage, Drury, Fort Lewis, and Stonehill. Anderson is just 40 points away from the top 10.
