ANDERSON, S.C. -- Nikki Anthony of Anderson University was named to the Daktronics East Region first team Tuesday afternoon. Her named will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America honors. Anthony, a 6-foot-2 senior from Pickens, S.C., leads Anderson in scoring (13.7) and rebounding (10.7). She has 17 double-doubles for the season, including three in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. In Anderson's first 30 games, Anthony recorded double figures in scoring in 23 games and double figures in rebounding in 20 games. Entering the NCAA Tournament, she had recorded double-figure in rebounds in eight straight games. Her rebounds are almost 50-50 (161 offensive, 159 defensive). Anthony, the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, scored a season-high 25 points against Pfeiffer on Jan. 24 and pulled down a season-high 17 rebounds against Barton on Jan. 26 and against Mount Olive on Mar. 8. The other members of the first team are Lauren Beckley of Shippensburg, Jahzinga Tracey of Indiana (Pa.), Sarah Van Horn of West Virginia Wesleyan, and Brooque Williams of California (Pa.). Beckley was named the East Region Player of the Year.
